In May 2010, the new English voice actor for Jiminy Cricket, Phil Snyder, who took over the role after the passing of Jiminy’s former voice actor Eddie Carroll, wrote on his official website that he was recording his first voice work for the game Kingdom Hearts Re:coded, a remake and English version of Kingdom Hearts coded for the Nintendo DS in the same way Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories brought Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories to the PlayStation 2.

Re:coded, among other titles, was presented at E3 2010. The game will play like a mix of Birth by Sleep, 358/2 Days, and the original coded, although the game also makes use of the leveling system from 358/2 Days; however, the system has been simplified to be more appealing to the “light gamer”. The story of the game also is not being changed, although more scenes will be added, including a new secret movie. As of June 2010, the game is 80% complete. The game will be released in Japan on October 7, 2010 and Nomura said that it should be releasing in other territories not too long after the Japan release date.

Leading Japanese video games publisher Rising Star Games today confirms Eldar Saga will be released for the Wii on 17th September

Friday 3rd September 2010: Continuing a bumper year of releases, Rising Star Games has confirmed Eldar Saga’s 2010 release date as 17th September. The game will fill a niche in the current games climate by appealing to Wii owners who are interested in the RPG format.

Gameplay in Eldar Saga kicks off in character creation mode, with five basic classes and numerous advanced classes, skills, weapons and equipment to choose from. Split into two chapters, gamers start as a man and later take on the role of a female.

The first chapter sees gamers charged with retrieving fragments from a meteorite that released hordes of monsters on the land, wreaking havoc. The second chapter takes place 100 years later when the monsters are close to taking over the world. Playing as a descendant of the hero of the first chapter, gamers join an army intent on destroying the monsters.

Battles take place in real time and gamers can quest together via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for co-op gameplay at anytime they wish. Jobs also play a big part in the Eldar Saga with the flexible levelling up system allowing the gamer to focus on strengths and weaknesses as they see fit.

“The RPG genre is one of the least represented the Wii and we’re confident Eldar Saga successfully fills a gap in this market, bringing classic story-driven gameplay,” says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. “Developer Marvelous Entertainment is renowned for creating immersive gameplay and Eldar Saga is no exception.”

Sega has revealed the first information of the game’s multiplayer element.

Unlocked through collecting hidden special rings in the single-player game, the two-player mode is focused on players using Wisp power-ups and plenty of skill to survive a Dr Robotnik-designed assault course. Players take control of robotic Sonics rather than the real flesh-and-quills hero, hence the antennae and pallid complexion.

Sonic Colors as a single-player experience isn’t particularly difficult, at least in the time I’ve spent with it. Sonic Colors co-op is the Ivan Drago of platformers, aiming to break you on a regular basis. Everything is basically the same speed in co-op as it is in single-player, which leads to some hilarious confusion as each player tries to run each course without colliding with dangerous obstacles, enemies, or, well, each other. During my time with multiplayer, I felt that there was a hint of competition inherent in the way the levels were laid out: from pulley systems that pretty much require both players to air dash into each other over and over to move upward to covert battles to collect more rings than the other player.

The Isshu region is where the 5th generation games, Pokemon Black and White, take place. It’s been confirmed that you will only see 5th gen Pokemon until the game ends (after the Elite Four). Once you beat the Elite Four, I assume there will be older Pokemon available. You can also transfer Pokemon in from Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver.
